marketing to adults. i mean, children.

a second-to-last note from arizona: last week was easter weekend, and the resort we were staying at was kind enough to organize an easter egg hunt.

the only problem is, the "hunt" consisted of "hiding" eggs in a wide-open grass field. (click here to see the eggs as clearly as the kids did.) so it wasn't really a hunt at all - it was merely a grab bag. and it reminded me of a lot of marketing communications today. there was no intrigue, no memorability, no way to engage people. just a smack the side of the head saying, "LOOK HERE!"

after 35 seconds (honest - we timed it), the "hunt" was over, and the kids had moved on - mentally as well as physically.

this too reminded me of a lot of marketing communications today.
