principles and how to bend them

as a marketing person, i practice what i preach by using companies who do interesting marketing and avoiding companies whose marketing annoys.

so it's with great sorrow that today, i am climbing into this "rental-blue" hyundai sonata i rented from enterprise. yes, enterprise - one of the single most condescending marketers on the planet. my go-to car rental is budget, which is no longer doing interesting work but used to. hell, i'd rather reward avis for their campaign from the 1960s than go with enterprise. but alas, all other car rental places were out.

in spite of them having their own youtube channel, enterprise doesn't even have all their commercials posted. don't despair, i've memorized them. they all go like this:

ANNCR: at enterprise, we'll pick you up.
WOMAN STANDING IN FRONT OF MASSIVE SIGN THAT SAYS "REPAIR SHOP": hello enterprise, i'm at the REPAIR SHOP. i need to be picked up.
ENTERPRISE EMPLOYEE: we can pick you up.
WOMAN: you can pick me up?
ENTERPRISE EMPLOYEE: we can pick you up.
ANNCR: at enterprise, we'll pick you up.

though i rented my car from enterprise, it is with great irish pride (aka stubbornness) that i refused to let them pick me up.
