the power of suggestion

unless you count the people who have flasks in their desks, the three martini lunch has been replaced by... well, let's face it, there's just no replacement for three martinis.

so it was interesting to be in this restaurant in new york where, even at lunch, each table was lined with wine glasses. that meant as a customer, your choice was either have a glass of wine, or cause an inconvenience to the server by having them clear a table of empty glasses. looking around the place, there was an unusually high percentage of people drinking wine at lunch, proving it doesn't take much to influence behavior.

for the record, my cohorts and i were dining before a new business meeting and did not partake. i know, weak. i can't help but think the meeting would've gone better if we had.
