like you, i was at holiday parties last weekend. one i attended was your average throw-down with the bathtub-as-cooler vibe to it. what made this one interesting is, the majority of the attendees were employees at some of chicago's finest hotels. this led to two observations: 1) if we didn't know who the host was, i don't know if we could've guessed. everyone was gracious, outgoing, and welcoming. 2) there was not going to be much to clean after the party was over. every time i put a glass down, it was immediately swept up by one of the guests, and the table was wiped of rings.
it was like going to a pool party with lifeguards.
